| Mammals or Reptiles... who are we? |
WinRed or ActBlue…
By Alfred Lehmberg
I’ll contradict
myself in a moment, scroller, but Politics… is about the money,
sincerely. If you have enough of it, and are willing to do ANYTHING at all with
it, you CAN prevail… if unethically, if hypocritically, if immorally... if illegally. We take a moment to side-eye Mr. Musk...
See? All it takes, friend, is the money to gain that necessary, even if criminal, edge! That “edge” is coveted and sought after by the worst persons on the planet seeking what that money can buy… we speak of power, influence… control… love is not even a consideration. That can be leased or rented.
It is the way of the psychopath, we'll observe, and precisely why we aspire to a government of, by, and for people… to protect us
from same. …We digress early! Hard to port!
...Returning, we add
to this “money problem” the abject ridiculousness of the concept… (“someone’s”
bright idea!), of bestowing personhood on a multinational “Corporation”! What was
THAT about?! We know what that was about, scroller, another opportunity to game the system...
...A vast and
enormously powerful corporation was a “Person,” then, yeah and verily …a person who should be
able to influence and exert their affect on society, culture, and
government… you know, like any other normal person. Pause for
squirty and derisive giggles. This "initiative" endruns a whole SET of problems for the unscrupulous!
This now well-exposed
Epstein class of “corporate persons” is further buffered and accessorized by
real individual people of monstrous and even obscene wealth! In
this “Epstein class,” there are persons who tend to support only that policy which
extends and expands that obscene wealth, exponentially, even where those extensions
and expansions alluded to only reward the very, very few at the expense of
the very, very many… inauspiciously, unjustifiably, and unfairly!
Beyond all decency and conscience, actually… Musk says empathy is stupid... I'm 78 and retired career military, and I've seen little evidence of such...
So… there are two
kinds of person, then, if demonstrably unequal persons. One person has
the potential to live hundreds of years and exert enormous power and influence,
like a god, lowercased… ala “The Boys” Homelander, if the reader
will go along… as some corporations present as such.
The other person? Not
even a blip on the former’s radar! What could go wrong with such a cruelly unprincipled
imbalance rewarding only one side of the equation so graciously while
dooming the other side to serfdom and wage-slavery… salved
illiberally with a “don’t get sick” healthcare plan and squalorous housing...
Money, money…
money. …But money’s not the thing, it only seems like the thing. There’s my
self-contradiction.
No… Money is just
the fluid, a thing to which we’ve only assigned value! This is a
fluid pumped into the veins, arteries, and capillaries of our vast multicultural
machine, allowing it to move and function, at all... like a somewhat refined if
still insentient sea slug. It is the hydraulic fluid compressed into the
hydraulics of the machines aforementioned, allowing it to move and “act” in any
capacity... some capacities pretty astonishing, but we won't digress.
Money is important;
it’s just not the thing. Blood’s important, sure, because it facilitates the
brain controlling the action. It’s who operates the cultural machines, though;
that is the thing! Which brain... though. Mammalian Forebrain, or reptilian Hindbrain. Still, the circulatory fluid
has importance or those "brains," fore OR aft, don’t get their “facilitation”!
So? We have to talk about the circulatory fluid… the money, and there are generally two major "pecuniary machines" scrabbling for it… each doing so in ways polar or at least disjunct to each other.
These Parties will be funded, or they
will perish. We ask the begged question. How are they doin’ it?!
Oh, there’re gonna
be the inevitable inflows and outflows, legal and illegal. One side will
be more guilty of the illegal than the other, …but individual donors and
political action committees… the lions and tigers and bears of each and all… oh
my?! ...Not these.
No, it boils down
to but two initiatives conceived to take in circulatory
fluid, I mean, cash… …and one wants to have the other
criminally investigated, if frivolously, while that other points out the gob-smacking
irony of the former wishing to remotely prosecute a criminal investigation
of the latter, at all, given the bald history of vast past projections legendary regarding the former! Squirty giggles begin to bubble! Going forward, we’ll be able to determine which might be which.
We compare and contrast, at length, then, ActBlue and WinRed, cash accumulators for the Democrats and Republicans, respectively. …
...With seats in the full
upright position, we’ll continue.
ActBlue vs.
WinRed—A Full Compare & Contrast!
ActBlue and WinRed
are the two dominant online fundraising platforms in American politics. They
are not mirror images, by any means! They are but asymmetrical
rivals built for opposing parties with opposite
philosophies, opposite histories, and opposite operational
cultures. …PLUS an opposite raison d'être! That’s all sounding very ominous
right there!
Below we’ll have
the full breakdown. …Seat upright?
ActBlue—Structure,
Philosophy, Mechanics…
Identity &
Purpose?
ActBlue is a
transparent nonprofit fundraising platform founded in 2004 to
help Democratic candidates, progressive causes, and left‑leaning nonprofits
raise money online. It is not a PAC, not a campaign, and not a political
committee of any type—it is an infrastructure provider.
Core Features?
- Centralized donation processing
for thousands of Democratic campaigns.
- Recurring donations (monthly,
weekly, “surge” donations).
- One‑click giving across any
ActBlue‑supported campaign.
- Grassroots emphasis—small‑dollar
donors, high volume, low average donation.
- Transparent fee structure
(ActBlue charges a processing fee; campaigns do not pay to join).
Philosophy?
ActBlue’s ethos is distributed,
bottom‑up fundraising. It treats donors as an appreciated mass network,
not a curated list of credulous boobs and neo-Nazis. Its model is built on:
- High‑frequency, low‑dollar
contributions.
- Rapid mobilization during news events.
- Emotional activation (outrage cycles,
policy pushes, “defend democracy” messaging).
Strengths?
- Extremely easy for donors.
- Massive donor database.
- Standardized tools for every Democratic
campaign.
- Proven ability to raise billions from
small donors.
Criticisms?
- Encourages hyper‑aggressive
email/text fundraising.
- Can create donor fatigue.
- Centralizes power in national
Democratic infrastructure.
- Some argue it incentivizes performative
outrage over policy depth. This kind of performance seems more the
provenance of Win/Red… remembering, “they’re eating the cats.”
Now, scroller, on the
other hand? …while perhaps placing one hand on your wallet and the other over your
anal pore?! This lot cuts you and laughs while you’re bleeding, but
it’s ActBlue needing the criminal investigation?! Go figure… Projection,
as I said earlier.
WinRed—Structure, Philosophy, Mechanics
Identity &
Purpose
WinRed is a for‑profit (let's raise red flags!) fundraising platform launched in 2019 to unify and centralize Republican
online fundraising. It was created as a direct response to ActBlue’s
dominance. WinRed said to themselves, “Hey, we can do that, too, but WE
can gouge profit from it!”
Core Features?
- Centralized donation processing
for preferred GOP candidates.
- Aggressive upsell mechanics (unethical
already pre‑checked “recurring” boxes, “money bomb” prompts). …There
always has to be some graft with the GOP!
- One‑click
giving across select Republican campaigns. So… a slippery slope to
giving more money than was perhaps desired?! I’d suspect you can count on that.
- Top‑down coordination—national
GOP committees “strongly” encourage (read require!) its use. So, tyranny
AND piracy!
Philosophy
WinRed’s ethos is centralized,
top‑down fundraising. It treats donors as a curated list managed by the
national party. Its model is built on:
- Disingenuous Firehose high‑pressure fundraising tactics!
- Larger average donations
than ActBlue!
- Strong integration with national GOP "strategy."
Strengths
- Unified GOP digital fundraising.
- Strong data centralization.
- High conversion rates due to hyper-aggressive mendacious prompts.
- Rapid growth since 2020... built entirely upon abject hypocrisy?
Criticisms
- For‑profit structure
raises transparency concerns! Easier graft is the ever-obvious potentiality.
- Pre‑checked recurring donation boxes
caused major donor complaints and are unethical on their face!
- Campaigns feel forced to use WinRed!
“Profit taking” has its proclivities!
- Critics argue it prioritizes short‑term
cash over long‑term donor trust! ...Right! When has the GOP cultivated
trust since Eisenhower?
Direct
Comparison?
1.
Organizational Structure
- ActBlue: Nonprofit… adequate to
the task.
- WinRed: For‑profit… but WHY?
Because they can? …Maybe there is stuff that shouldn’t
be profited on?
This difference
shapes everything—incentives, transparency, donor trust, and internal culture…
plus a duplicitously unethical shaping of our political reality into an authoritarian hell-house!!
2. Donor Base
- ActBlue: Small‑dollar,
grassroots, high volume! Little people trying to make a difference and
better their lives.
- WinRed: Higher average donation,
more wealthy donor profiles! Rich White psychopaths, in the aggregate, who
would gleefully expand their wealth and influence without regard to what
it does to people and planet… I’d mentioned “refined sea
slug” earlier, its concerns the whole of any issue at hand…
3. Fundraising
Philosophy
- ActBlue: Bottom‑up,
decentralized! …Seems of the people!
- WinRed: Top‑down, centralized!
Does it have to produce another billionaire who won’t pay his taxes?
4. Tactics
- ActBlue: Emotional mobilization,
rapid-response fundraising. When they tell you the sky is fallin’, maybe
it’s actually fallin’?
- WinRed:
Aggressive upsells, recurring traps (heavily criticized), mendacious high-pressure
prompts. A cold‑blooded enterprise of the mendacious, sustained by the
mendacious, but then culminating in the malicious and wholly mendacious.” What has MAGA done for YOU?
5. Political
Culture Reflected
ActBlue reflects
the Democratic coalition’s fragmented, activist‑driven nature. WinRed
reflects the Republican coalition’s hierarchical, party‑driven MAGA structure.
6. Transparency
- ActBlue: Clear fee structure,
nonprofit reporting… so, no harm no foul!
- WinRed: Less transparent due to needless
for‑profit status… a-ha!
7. Controversies
- ActBlue: Donor fatigue, legitimate if outrage‑driven fundraising.
- WinRed: Recurring donation
scandals, coercive adoption by campaigns. Tyranny and support for fascists?!
Contrast in
Broader Meaning?
ActBlue and WinRed
are not just platforms — they are reflections of how each party sees itself
and existential reality!
ActBlue embodies:
- Constructive Movement politics!
- Impassioned Grassroots energy!
- Distributed power with money going
where it is more needed!
- Emotional mobilization on the theme of
wanting to do “best practice.”
WinRed embodies:
- Party discipline, “it puts the lotion
on its skin, or it gets the hose again!”
- Centralized monolithic control, always
important in a tyranny!
- Strategic coordination, in the party’s
best interest, not the people’s.
- Aggressive monetization, we could argue
criminally duplicitous monetization!
- Best practice is not a concern.
Both are fundraising
machines, both shape political behavior, and both incentivize messaging
that keeps donors emotionally activated—sometimes at the expense of nuance or
policy depth... or the TRUTH! One adheres more to the truth… the other, not so much… winning at ANY cost is
more important, where? It’s right there in the name.
Closing Thought?
ActBlue and WinRed
are the twin engines of modern American political fundraising—altogether different in structure,
philosophy, and culture, only identical in their ultimate
function: turning political emotion into money. One does it with
honesty… the other with a hidden cudgel!
Clearly... and
demonstrably... ActBlue is mammalian, and WinRed is reptilian, a biological
metaphor that compresses a whole structural contrast into one
vivid, evolutionary image.
ActBlue
(Mammalian)!
- Nonprofit!
- Distributed donor networks!
- High‑volume, low‑dollar contributions!
- Emotional mobilization!
- Rapid response to environmental stimuli
(news cycles)!
- Cooperative, swarm‑like behavior!
- “Warm‑blooded” in the sense of constant
activity and metabolic churn!
WinRed (Reptilian)!
- For‑profit!
- Centralized donor management!
- Higher average donation amounts!
- Aggressive upsell mechanics!
- Party‑driven coordination!
- Territorial control over candidate
fundraising!
- “Cold‑blooded” in the sense of psychopathic
efficiency, unaccountable conservation, and mendaciously Machiavellian "strategic" bursts!
What “the
Metaphor” Really Captures?
I’m describing two
evolutionary strategies in political fundraising:
- ActBlue thrives on mass
participation. Many small donors, constant motion, emotional warmth, empathy and social signaling.
- WinRed thrives on centralized
control. Fewer donors, higher pressure, territorial discipline,
strategic psychopathic bursts.
- Then? WinRed wants to eat
ActBlue, or have it eaten.
Both are
adaptations to, and reflect, their respective party cultures. Both are
effective in their own ecological niches. Both are as they do. Neither
is inherently superior but one would seem to have a moral
superiority… They are
fundamentally different organisms.
My metaphor is not
partisan so much as it is taxonomic.
Why the Metaphor
Resonates
Because it captures
something deeper: ActBlue behaves like a mammalian herd—dynamic,
reactive, communal. WinRed behaves like a reptilian apex predator—controlled, efficient, territorial. Both survive. Both thrive. Both shape the
political landscape.
...But they do so with
different nervous systems, different metabolic rates, and different
evolutionary pressures. Warm blood versus cold blood. Mammals are preferred
because they can grow and change. Reptiles? Not so much. They are genetically
hardwired to be all that they can be at the start. Mammals can evolve.
Human beings are mammals
aspiring to sentience and conscience and should make that aspiration. We are ill-served
aping reptiles. TЯUMPCO proves that readily, scroller... by the hour!
